"Can I use my KWSP?" — this question comes up often, and the confusion is common: many assume KWSP and HRD Corp are the same thing. They're completely different. This article explains clearly.

KWSP vs HRD Corp — Not the Same Thing

KWSP (Employees Provident Fund) is an employee's retirement savings. It cannot be used to pay KTAC Executive Programme fees. KWSP education-related withdrawals fall under entirely different schemes and conditions, typically for a child/dependent's education, not your own training fees.

HRD Corp (formerly PSMB/HRDF) is a training levy collected from registered employers. This levy can be used to claim back employee training fees — including KTAC's Executive Programme, since it is HRD Corp Claimable.

In short: HRD Corp = yes, this works. KWSP = cannot be used for these fees.

Who Qualifies to Use HRD Corp for KTAC Fees?

Your employer needs to:

  1. Be registered with HRD Corp (most companies above a certain employee count are required to register)
  2. Have sufficient levy balance
  3. Approve the claim application for the relevant programme

If all three conditions are met, your KTAC Executive Programme fees can be claimed in full or in part by your employer, subject to HRD Corp approval.

How Employers Claim KTAC Fees

  1. Confirm company registration with HRD Corp and check levy balance
  2. Register the relevant KTAC programme as a training programme in the HRD Corp system
  3. Submit the claim application before or after the course (per current HRD Corp regulations)
  4. Contact a KTAC advisor for the supporting documents required (invoice, certificate, etc.)

What If My Employer Isn't Registered with HRD Corp?

You can still register for KTAC's Executive Programme and pay directly via manual bank transfer. Read the full fee schedule for monthly rates by programme level.

What About PTPTN or Scholarships?

This is also a frequently asked question. KTAC's Executive Programme is not an MQA academic programme, so it is not eligible for standard PTPTN funding, which is typically for MQA-accredited academic programmes only. Read more about KTAC's MQA status for full clarity. As for scholarships, this depends on the individual sponsor — check directly with the relevant sponsor regarding eligibility for HRD Corp Claimable programmes.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I claim the HRD Corp levy myself without going through my employer? No — HRD Corp claims must be made by a registered employer, not directly by an individual.

What if my employer's levy balance isn't enough? You can still register and pay the remaining balance personally via bank transfer, while your employer claims what's available from the existing levy.

Are all 16 KTAC programmes HRD Corp Claimable? Yes, all programmes under KTAC's Executive Programme are HRD Corp Claimable, subject to HRD Corp approval for each application.
